BRC secures Pirelli tyres through 2014
14th January 2012
Pirelli has extended its deal as tyre supplier to the British Rally Championship for a further two years, taking the series through to the end of 2014.
The 2012 season will be the BRC's sixth with Pirelli control tyres, and also marks the championship's return to a two-wheel-drive only format. Pirelli will also continue to fund a rising talent each season through its Star Driver scheme. Jukka Korhonen has already been announced as the 2012 recipient.
Pirelli motorsport manager Carl Naylor said: "We’re really pleased to be able to commit to the BRC for a further two years and believe that with all the changes being made this year, it’s going to be a very exciting series to be involved in."
BRC manager Mark Taylor described the extension of the Pirelli deal as a huge boost for the championship.
“In this current global environment, it's fantastic that we have secured this three year deal with Pirelli, which also includes the coveted Star Driver competition," Taylor said.
"This agreement is a real testament, it shows Pirelli has confidence in the future direction of the championship."
