Stage 1 Technology firmed up for rest of 2012 WRC
20th February 2012
The FIA has completed a deal for Stage 1 Technology to return to its role as the World Rally Championship's timing and tracking system provider for the rest of the 2012 season.
The firm had been forced to miss Monte Carlo amid the complications that followed the termination of North One Sport's WRC promotion deal after parent company Convers Sports Initiatives went into administration.
S1T then did a one-off deal for Sweden, but has now been signed up for the remainder of the WRC calendar - a move that will be welcomed by teams and drivers.
S1T managing director Simon de Banke said: "This is great news. Everybody's had quite a stressful start to the season, so to get this deal across the line in what is an exceptionally short space of time is a fair reflection on how much everybody wants it to work.
"I would like to pay tribute to the speed and ability with which everybody in the FIA has worked to expedite this. And for their foresight and support of the championship in taking the leadership to get our systems back online."
